Jörg Heikhaus, Founder

"Be true. Be honest. Do it with passion or don't do it at all. And always get your hands dirty." (JH)

„Born in Cologne, Jörg Heikhaus career has taken a rather irregular and unusual path, being (in chronological order but without claim to be complete) an artist, a photographer, a designer, a newspaper editor, writer of short stories and fiction, founder and creative director of the design agency killakanu, CEO of Internet consultancy Icon Medialab Germany and a freelance business consultant for companies such as Brand Eins, Volkswagen or Universal Music.

Professionally engaged in the digital economy since late 1995, Jörg is not only respected as one of the online pioneers in Germany, but has also been an entrepreneur since the very early days of his career, with over half a dozen companies he founded, co-founded and/or started-up from scratch. He already launched his first business venture when he was still a teenager at school.

Since art was the first true love in his life, opening the art gallery heliumcowboy in 2003 marked the consolidation of his experience, curiosity and passion. Based upon his diverse professional from painting walls at night to being the CEO of a large international, listed company, Jörg developed heliumcowboy like a state of the art start-up venture, and began to support young artists with the ability to blow away boundaries and establish the future aesthetics of art.

With Urban Art and the accompanying vision and attitude rooted deeply in the philosophy of heliumcowboy, Jörg quickly expanded the gallery’s reach by showcasing artists from around the globe, organizing exhibitions abroad, and taking part in acclaimed art fairs in New York, Miami or Basel.“  (by Dorian Winster)

You can meet Jörg at every home game of the best football team in the world at Millerntor Stadium (Gegengerade, Block 2, R6/S28) and at away games at the St. Pauli-Vereinsheim or Jolly Roger's. You can also follow him on twitter

Isabel by jo Fischer.Isabel Abele

After spending a year in San Francisco, Isabel moved to Hamburg in 1997 to study arts and design. However, her plans changed the very moment she attended a lecture in art history, introducing her to the art of Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg and other icons of the American Modern and Pop Art movement. This is when she decided to approach visual art on a theoretical level, focusing on the origins and appearences of contemporary art movements.

During her studies she stayed in Paris for a year, working for several art institutions, including the Freunde der Hamburger Kunsthalle, the largest museum supporter club in Germany. From 2004 to 2008 she was part of the planning team for the members program, organizing discussions about arts and architecture,  artists studio visits and exhibition talks. She has been assistant to performance artist Benita-Imannuel Grosser and co-organizing exhibitions at their space featuring artists like Rita McBride, Glen Rubsamen or Sylvia Kolbowski.

After completing her MA in art history and sociology in 2008, Isabel joined heliumcowboy artspace. With a special interest in Contemporary Art and Art in Public Space in a broader sense, you can find some of her writings in the following publications:

*66-03. Werke aus den Sammlungen Lafrenz und Reinking, Weserburg Museum für moderne Kunst, 2007.
*Fleckner, Uwe (Ed.): Kunst in der Stadt Hamburg. 40 Werke im öffentlichen Raum, Berlin 2007.
*Ingo Clauß / Weserburg Museum für moderne Kunst (Ed.): Urban Art, Werke aus der Sammlung Reinking, Bremen 2009.
