Wow, that took a while. heliumTALK, the art conversation between father (Jörg) and son (Melvin), between artist (Alex Diamond) and gallery owner (MEGA Contemporary), was in super hibernation. We last spoke together in this format at the end of 2022. In 2023, Melvin spoke for the last time with his artist Susannah Martin for heliumTALK. Actually, everything was already packed away in boxes, the equipment sold off, the shutters closed. But... we couldn't stand it. There is so much to talk about. About art and about art. And yes, you missed us very much too. So we shook ourselves up twice, pulled our chairs together, and started again.
Here is our first conversation, recorded on 3 February 2026, at the headquarters of MEGA Contemporary, the heliumcowboy archives and Alex Diamond's Hamburg studio (all located at Bäckerbreitergang 75, Hamburg-Neustadt).

Melvin and Jörg / February 2026
Boah, das hat aber gedauert. heliumTALK, das Kunstgespräch zwischen Vater (Jörg) und Sohn Melvin), zwischen Künstler (Alex Diamond) und Galerist (MEGA Contemporary), war im Superwinterschlaf. Ende 2022 sprachen wir das letzte mal gemeinsam in diesem Format. 2023 sprach Melvin das letzte Mal mit seiner Künstlerin Susannah Martin für heliumTALK. Eigentlich war alles schon in Kisten verpackt, das Equipment verscherbelt, die Klappen zu. Aber ... wir haben es nicht ausgehalten. Es gibt so viel zu erzählen. Aus der Kunst und über die Kunst. Und ja, ihr habt uns ja auch sehr vermisst. Deshalb haben wir uns zwei mal kräftig geschüttelt, die Sessel zusammengerückt, und wieder losgelegt.
Hier nun unser erstes Gespräch, aufgenommen am 3. Februar 2026, im Hauptquartier von MEGA Contemporary, den heliumcowboy Archiven und dem Hamburger Atelier von Alex Diamond (alles im Bäckerbreitergang 75, Hamburg-Neustadt).

heliumTALK begann im Jahre 2016 als TV Talk-Show in der Galerie, bevor Jörg Heikhaus aka Alex Diamond im Frühjahr 2018 den gleichnamigen Podcast herausbrachte und in seinem Atelier Interviews mit Protagonisten aus der Welt der Kunst führte.
Anfang 2022 gab ein neues Konzept, eine erweiterte, feste Besetzung und veränderte Inhalte: der heliumTALK war nun ein offenes Gespräch zwischen Jörg und Melvin Heikhaus, zwischen Künstler und Galerist, zwischen Vater und Sohn.
Mal mit Gästen, mal ohne. Immer aktuell und mit spannenden Themen - aber natürlich ging es weiterhin um Kunst.
heliumTALK started as a live talk show for TV in our gallery in 2016, before Jörg Heikhaus aka Alex Diamond took this format into the world of audio podcasts two years later. These interviews with people from the art world were mostly recorded in his artist studio.
In 2022, heliumTALK changed its format and became an open conversation between Jörg and the new gallerist of heliumcowboy, Melvin Heikhaus.
A conversation between artist & gallerist, between father and son. Topic is still the art world. From time to time there were guests.
